Cutting Angels

The penultimate group in River, Cutting Angels contains paintings and a metal box made of woven wire.

Cutting Angels is about a child's life. The four main paintings, framed together, represent memories of a Russian icon, seen from a child's perspective, so they are about the shock of violence. They are flanked, on one side, by three peaceful landscapes and a troubled seascape with survivor.
